Frequently Asked Questions

It’s completely normal to have questions about the therapeutic process.  You may also experience nervousness about beginning services, we understand.  We want to assist you in minimizing any anxiety you may have by creating an inviting, warm and non-judgmental experience.  We are genuinely interested in you and your wellbeing.  People can change.  People do change. Sometimes they need a gentle push or support to begin moving them closer to where they want to be.

How does a virtual session work?

Virtual sessions are preferred when in-person sessions are unavailable.  Virtual sessions provide an alternative method due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first session’s focus will be on how we can support you in getting what you need to live your best life.

We will reserve 60-90 minutes getting to know you and beginning work on goals.  By the first session you should have completed all needed paperwork.  You will have returned everything to our office so that we will only need to review it.

Do you accept healthcare insurance?

Agape WellCare PLLC. Is not accepting insurance at this time.  Please be mindful that if you choose to use private insurance a diagnosis will be added to your insurance medical/health record.  The insurance company may determine what they feel are treatment needs for your wellbeing. Please contact your insurance provider to get a greater understanding of expectations when you chose to file insurance.

Your insurance may not reimburse you at full cost.   Payments can be made through credit card on file, including FSA or HSA cards, or by check or cash (exact amount).  Contact your FSA / HSA provider for more updated information on what they require.  Normally when using flexible spending, your diagnosis/diagnoses are kept private.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

A sliding scale is offered to clients during periods of financial need in order to support them in making sessions more affordable.  We only take a certain number of clients at these reduced rates when the full fee cannot be paid.   We never want anyone to neglect treatment due to their inability to pay.  Please contact us and we can discuss payment options. You will need to fill out a form to disclose your income and monthly expenses to set the fee. The fee will be revisited on a regular basis as circumstances change. We can also provide you referrals to other therapists who may have sliding scale openings.

Are there certain reasons virtual sessions should not be done?

Virtual sessions may not be beneficial for young children.  Virtual sessions may not be beneficial for someone who is actively suicidal or with self-harm behaviors.  Virtual sessions may not be beneficial with someone having psychotic episodes.  Sessions are conducted online through a HIPAA compliant, secure video platform.

What is the availability for appointments?

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, Agape WellCare PLLC is only seeing clients virtually.  We currently offer non-traditional hours, Monday through Friday between 6:00pm and 9:00pm, and on Saturdays between 9:00am and 1:00pm.  Availability may change from week to week due to cancelled appointment.  If you have special circumstances that prevent you from being seen within this schedule, we can discuss other possible options.

All sessions are booked on a first come, first served basis.  Because non-traditional hours are offered, please know that these times will fill up quickly.

How do I know if I need therapy?

Therapy is needed based on a variety of reasons. There are other needs and causes that someone may choose therapy.  Maybe you feel stuck or that some changes need to occur but don’t know where to start.  What has worked for you in the past may no longer be working.  Maybe your coping mechanisms are harmful.  Perhaps there has been an event that has caused you to feel overwhelmed, alone, fearful or anxious. Maybe you want to speak with someone just to explore whether you think there is a need for therapy.  Give us a call.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

The initial session is between 60-90 minutes.  Continuing sessions are for 50-90 minutes.  During your first session we will reserve time to discuss your individual treatment needs and goals.  We will schedule you weekly on the same day/time for consistency.  We will also discuss treatment outcomes and how you will know when progress is being made by exploring realistic goals that have been set.  Based on your individual goals, we will determine how often sessions are needed and for how long.  We ask that whatever has brought you to the place of needing therapy may not be resolved quickly.  Be mindful of other factors that may influence the process (current and past experiences).  We encourage you to begin with the end in mind and allow the process to unfold at a speed that is productive for you.

What is your method of treatment?

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working with Individuals, Families and Groups, I recognize that you are the expert on you.  I look forward to working alongside you because the therapeutic process is two-sided. My approach to therapy is varied based on the needs of each client.  I use various therapeutic support methods such as Brain spotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Informed Care.  In addition, I have acquired several tools from working alongside clients and from clinical trainings that have aided in positive outcomes with client goals. None of what I use is more vital than the collaborative process.  Your honesty and feedback will assist in how the therapeutic process is progressing.

What is the no-show/cancellation policy?

Therapy takes a commitment from both parties so out of respect for your time, I require 24 hours advance notice for cancellations. A full fee will be charged for short notice cancellations and no shows.  If you are a no show to your initial appointment, there will be a $50 fee charged to your credit card and I will allow one reschedule opportunity.  Inconsistent therapy sessions are not therapeutic.  For frequent cancellations, I will discuss with you other therapy options that may prove more beneficial to you.

What about confidentiality?

We take privacy seriously and have taken specific measures to keep your information and sessions confidential.  Confidentiality is an aspect of therapy that is the bridge for building a relationship where the client can begin the important work and communication.  There may be special circumstances where your information has to be shared.  We will discuss those special circumstances in the initial session.  You will have provided a consent for me to discuss your care with other persons.
