I am on a continued journey to wellness. My journey to here has been a combination of ups and downs, highs and lows and failures and successes. Chances are, I have been where you are…as a woman, single mother, wife, friend, employee…you name it. My story may not be any different than yours. From dark spaces to finding hope. I may identify with some of your issues and concerns. I have worked hard to get to where I am today.
I did not get here by myself. So many are to thank for where I am today, despite whether they gave positive support or other. In saying that, I recognize that both good and bad experiences have brought me to this place. I acknowledge that I will need the ongoing support of others to continue.
I have worked as a child welfare worker in the Charlotte community since the early 1990’s. It has been my desire and passion to see people live their best life. I have supported children and teens in the foster care and group home settings, provided in home, school and community therapy, worked in family preservation and provided numerous trainings throughout the United States. I have supported pregnant women and girls in residential settings and have provided therapy within integrative settings. I have worked as an adjunct professor to social work students, supported interns, and served on various university social work committees. I want to help people to live their best life possible and at their fullest. My hope is to leave the world better than I found it, starting with helping others. I get to Pay-It-Forward with human kindness.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working with Individuals, Families and Groups, I recognize that you are the expert on you. I look forward to working alongside you. My approach to therapy is varied based on the needs of each client. I use various therapeutic support methods such as Brain spotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Informed Care. In addition, I have acquired several tools from working alongside clients and from clinical trainings that have aided in positive outcomes with client goals.
My life’s experiences have taught me that at times people need the help of others…someone to talk to…a listening ear…a non-judgmental space to be heard. I am here for you to celebrate during good times and to offer support during times of need. There are times when we walk around wounded but with unseen scars. We may not show our struggles externally, yet we may experience them internally. Some experiences masque themselves through fears, behaviors or through restlessness. This may be as a result of traumatic events. I can identify. Other challenges may keep you feeling stuck in the same place day after day, not allowing you to move forward or being fearful.
Even in times when there were struggles and my faith has been tested; for those times when the experiences seemed unforgiving, I had to learn to learn skills that helped me continue forward. Skills that helped me to calm myself and to explore other thinking patterns.
Life’s transitions can be hard enough…
Nobody should have to walk the journey alone…
